Tips for your perfect Engagement Photo session

1. Choose the right location
Before you go to your neighborhood park for your engagement pictures, consider what really inspires the two of you. Exploring new trendy restaurants in town, you could book a table for two at a newly opened bar. Or if a a coffee shop is more your thing,  we can take sweet, candid photos in that space while you sip a latte. Walking by a riverside with the city in the background, in front of a historical building  or stroll at the beach at sunset.

2. Wear Something Comfortable
While it’s only natural for you to want to look fantastic in photos, wearing something you’re actually comfortable is key. The last thing you want to worry about is trying to cover up your clothes or adjusting them if they are too tight or too clingy. Choose something that makes you feel like a million bucks! Try on your new dress and make sure it’s comfortable to walk in your new shoes.

3. Select Complimentary Outfits
Speaking of outfits! It’s always a nice touch if your engagement session outfits complement each other, whether it’s texture, color palette or pattern. When it comes to coordinating your wardrobe, keep the end result in mind. For bright, airy and dreamy photos avoid heavy patterns.

4. Come Up with an Activity
It’s easier to forget that there’s a camera around when you have something to do. Go for a walk around the neighborhood, play your favorite table games, prepare breakfast or include your favorite hobby! I love it when engagement photos are full of natural movement, spontaneous laughter, and genuine emotions.

5. Bring a Prop
Do you own or have access to vintage automobile, airplane, boat or motorcycle bring it with you. Bringing props along to your engagement shoot instantly adds an element of storytelling to your photos. Consider including props that complement your shoot’s color scheme. Other props you may consider, Hats, sunglasses, gloves or colorful umbrella.

6. Hair and Make up
Ladies, this one is important, I highly recommended a professional hair or makeup artist. You will look great and feel pampered. If that’s not in the budget, then I recommend doing your hair and makeup the way you usually do. Or schedule your bridal make up trial for your E-session day.

7. Schedule a Manicure
Your hands will be focused during your shoot, so make sure that your nails are done. Hands moisturized, and everything is ready to be highlighted! Don’t forget your rings?

8. Make a Date Out of it
Starting the day off with this mindset helps you to feel romantic when you head into the photo shoot. Plus, you’re already dressed to the nines and look your best – why not finish the day with a delicious meal at a favorite restaurant.

9. Have Fun
Have fun, be silly and playful. Your pictures will look natural and authentic. And also helps to bring out the best in you: your sincere laughter, loving gazes, and playfulness, everything you do that shows off the love between the two of you.

10. Relax
If you feel awkward or uncomfortable in front of the camera, have a glass of wine or bubbly to ease the nerves. Better yet make a picnic on a cozy blanket and bring bottle of bubbly to your session with some fruit or appetizers. Cheers!
